Peptides are small fragments of skin’s protein that are made up of amino acids. They act as messengers which are responsible for signaling the dermis to synthesize the material needed for keeping skin young and healthy.
In skincare products, three types of CORUM peptides are commonly used: C-PepTM Tricoll, C-PepTM Defensyl, and C-PepTM Elastyl. They are non-irritating to the skin, have excellent chemical stabilities, and have high levels of skin affinity.
C-PepTM Tricoll helps to increase the reservoir of stem cells to stimulate collagen synthesis in skin fibroblasts and promote epidermal proliferation. It prevents the formation of wrinkles and enhances connective tissue.
C-PepTM Defensyl carries anti-photoaging, anti-stress, and anti-inflammation properties. This peptide also strengthens the skin defense system. Defensyl has the ability to mimic the activity of a hormone that is naturally produced in the adrenal gland called Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) to inhibit the production of excess interleukins in mature skin. This peptide protects skin from ultraviolet (UV) light and blue light.
C-PepTM Elastyl has skin firming and anti-aging properties. It also stimulates the production of elastin and facilitates the proliferation of fibroblast. This peptide helps to reduce the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.
According to the toxicological evaluation, all C-PepTM peptides were found to be non-irritant, non-pro-mutagenic, and non-mutagenic.
